Women are a growing force in engineering and computer science. According to the American Society of Engineering Education (ASEE), women earned 23.10% of bachelor’s degrees, 28.10% of master’s degrees and 24% of doctoral degrees in engineering in the U.S. as of 2020. This is a continuation of the decade long upward trend in the proportion of women earning engineering degrees at all levels of higher education. “Focusing on the bachelor’s degree level, the number of degrees awarded to women in engineering and computer science has more than doubled between 2008 and 2018 (Source: NSF National Center for Science and Engineering Statistics – Bachelor’s degrees awarded by sex & field)”
