All academic programs at Florida International University are approved by the Florida Board of Education, the FIU Board of Trustees and the Florida Board of Governors. FIU is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees.

The Department of Biomedical Engineering's undergraduate degree program is accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET).
