At FIU’s College of Engineering & Computing (CEC), we prepare students to become the next generation of problem-solvers and leaders. Through hands-on experiences in the classroom, lab and workplace, students gain the skills and knowledge to make a difference.
As South Florida’s leading hub for engineering and computing, we offer fully accredited bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral programs in cybersecurity, the Internet of Things, biomedical, civil, environmental, electrical, computer, mechanical and materials engineering, as well as construction management, engineering management and computing education.
Our faculty tackle some of today’s most pressing challenges. Through interdisciplinary collaboration and strong industry partnerships, CEC develops solutions in areas that matter most, from AI-driven health technologies to resilient infrastructure.

Meet our Distinguished Faculty
Our faculty are leaders in both the classroom and the lab. They’ve earned national awards for groundbreaking research, hold multiple patents and serve as fellows in leading professional societies.
The Engineering Center serves as the headquarters of the College of Engineering & Computing. This world-class research facility is just a two-mile shuttle ride north of FIU’s Modesto A. Maidique Campus and is home to most of our engineering courses.
Innovation 1 is a six-story, 125,000-square-foot facility on the Modesto A. Maidique Campus. The first structure of the new multi-building Innovation Complex, the facility brings together students, faculty and industry partners to advance work in AI, robotics, cybersecurity, health and more.
The Wall of Wind Experimental Facility allows researchers to better understand wind effects on civil infrastructure systems and research methods that prevent wind hazards from becoming community disasters. The Wall of Wind is powered by a 12-fan system capable of repeatable testing of up to 157 mph wind speeds.
The FIU-FPL Solar Research Center is home to a 1.4 MW solar array made up of more than 4,400 solar panels that provides clean power to the Engineering Center.
Our state-of-the-art labs, like the Cold Spray and Rapid Deposition Laboratory, provide advanced instruments and technologies for hands-on learning and experimental research. They support interdisciplinary collaboration, fostering innovation and breakthroughs in various research areas.
