Message from the Dean

 Dean Jack A. Puleo Ph.D.

At FIU’s College of Engineering & Computing, we are shaping the future by advancing discovery, driving innovation and preparing the next generation of leaders to solve the world’s most pressing challenges.

Our college stands at the intersection of technology, health and environmental resilience; three areas where engineering and computing are transforming how we live, work and thrive. From artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and robotics to biomedical engineering, resilient infrastructure and coastal resilience research, our students and faculty are developing solutions with meaningful impact locally, nationally and globally.

What makes FIU distinctive is both the breadth of our expertise and the scale of our ambition. We are home to one of the nation’s largest computing schools, internationally recognized research centers and pioneering facilities such as the Wall of Wind, where breakthrough work is helping communities better prepare for extreme weather and a changing climate. Building on that leadership, we continue to expand our research enterprise and deepen partnerships that translate innovation into global solutions.

Equally important is our commitment to student success. We are preparing an agile, forward-looking workforce equipped with the technical knowledge, interdisciplinary perspective and hands-on experience needed to lead in rapidly evolving industries. By strengthening pathways to careers, entrepreneurship and advanced study, we are empowering our graduates to become innovators, problem-solvers and changemakers.

The momentum at FIU Engineering & Computing is unmistakable. Together, with our students, faculty, staff, alumni and valued partners, we are building a future defined by excellence, discovery and impact.

I invite you to be part of what comes next.
