Major in Electrical Engineering
The Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering at FIU prepares you for a career in the design, development, testing and supervision of electrical equipment and systems production.
Our curriculum offers innovative concentrations for different applications of electricity, electronics and electromagnetism, ranging from quantum-scale technologies to large-scale power generation systems.
You will learn about practical applications of electrical engineering to emerging technologies, including electric vehicles, hardware security, control systems, AI-powered autonomous devices and wireless communications.

Classes
Narrow the focus of your degree by selecting at least two of our specialized course concentrations:
- Bio-engineering
- Communications
- Autonomous Systems and Control
- Embedded System Software
- Integration Nano-technology
- Power and Energy
- Computer Architecture
- Microprocessor Design
- Data System Software
- Networking and Security
- Cybersecurity
- Digital Forensics
- Internet of Things

Senior Design Project
This program requires a Senior Design capstone project, to be completed in your last two semesters.
During this two-semester course, you will be mentored by faculty and industry leaders as you work to address and solve real-world engineering problems. Using your newly learned skills, you will undertake product design, implementation and budgeting as part of a team.
Tracks
The Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering offers two optional tracks if you are interested in pursuing a future career in medicine or physics.
Both tracks build upon the foundational Electrical Engineering curriculum, adding track-specific concentrations for further immersion in your field of choice.

Pre-Medical Track
The Pre-Medical track is designed for students with dual interests in Electrical Engineering and the field of medicine.

Physics Track
The Physics track is designed for students with dual interests in Electrical Engineering and physics.
Get your Master’s in Five Years
