Major in Interdisciplinary Engineering
The Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Engineering (BSIDE) lets you tailor your degree to a broad range of future career paths.
Our curriculum provides a strong foundation in engineering and science, coupled with courses focused on leadership, systems thinking and engineering design.
You will graduate ready to create real-world solutions for complex multidisciplinary challenges in a diverse range of fields, from traditional engineering to emerging areas like entertainment engineering and ocean engineering.

Curriculum
The BSIDE lets you design a degree that matches your interests while preparing you to be an engineering leader who creates innovative, people-focused solutions to real-world challenges.
You’ll take courses in four areas:
- Engineering foundation
- Engineering secondary field
- Engineering business and leadership
- Interdisciplinary project experiences
Students choose a concentration, such as industrial, ocean, entertainment, humanitarian, aerospace, HVAC, materials or robotics, or can even propose their own area of focus.

Interdisciplinary Capstone Design Project
This program requires a capstone project. The two-semester capstone project is a comprehensive team-based design experience, providing a deep dive into the process of designing an engineering solution, from initial problem identification to final product manufacturing.
Jumpstart your MS in Engineering Management
The BSIDE/MSEM Accelerated Degree Pathway lets high-achieving seniors get a head start on a master’s degree. Admitted students can apply up to nine college credits from the BSIDE program toward a Master of Science in Engineering Management.
