The Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Engineering (BSIDE) lets you tailor your degree to a broad range of future career paths.

Our curriculum provides a strong foundation in engineering and science, coupled with courses focused on leadership, systems thinking and engineering design.

You will graduate ready to create real-world solutions for complex multidisciplinary challenges in a diverse range of fields, from traditional engineering to emerging areas like entertainment engineering and ocean engineering.

Curriculum

The BSIDE lets you design a degree that matches your interests while preparing you to be an engineering leader who creates innovative, people-focused solutions to real-world challenges.

You’ll take courses in four areas:

  • Engineering foundation
  • Engineering secondary field
  • Engineering business and leadership
  • Interdisciplinary project experiences

Students choose a concentration, such as industrial, ocean, entertainment, humanitarian, aerospace, HVAC, materials or robotics, or can even propose their own area of focus.

FIU CEC Senior Design Showcase

Interdisciplinary Capstone Design Project

This program requires a capstone project. The two-semester capstone project is a comprehensive team-based design experience, providing a deep dive into the process of designing an engineering solution, from initial problem identification to final product manufacturing.

Jumpstart your MS in Engineering Management

The BSIDE/MSEM Accelerated Degree Pathway lets high-achieving seniors get a head start on a master’s degree. Admitted students can apply up to nine college credits from the BSIDE program toward a Master of Science in Engineering Management.
