The online master’s program provides an environment where graduate students develop advanced knowledge to enhance professional practice and apply research-driven insights to management decisions that impact organizations in a global economy.

Upon graduation, students will possess skills in effective written communication, critical thinking, problem-solving, decision-making, research methods, advanced communication technology, professional ethics, advanced construction management practices, risk management and principles of leadership in business.

Students with an undergraduate background in construction management or related areas may complete the program in one year if studying full-time. Those who need foundational courses may require additional time.

The program offers both thesis and non-thesis options: the thesis track includes 30 hours of coursework plus six hours of thesis work, while the non-thesis track consists of 36 hours of coursework, with up to six hours of independent studies.

    • 4-year bachelor’s degree in Construction, Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, Business or equivalent related fields
      • Students with other degrees may still be accepted if they take basic undergraduate courses or the Construction Management Short Course to provide an adequate background.
    • Submit the FIU Master’s Program Online Application
    • Official transcripts of all previously earned college or university credits
    • A statement or letter of intent (Optional, but recommended)
    • Three letters of recommendation (Optional, but recommended)
    • A statement of objectives (Optional, but recommended)

  • International Students

  • STEM Designation

    The Online Master of Science in Construction Management is a STEM-designated program. After program completion, international students have the opportunity of Optional Practical Training (OPT), which allows students to work within the U.S. for up to 36 months (one year of OPT + two years of STEM OPT) for STEM designated programs.

  • Construction Management Short Course

    This is a self-paced and fully online course that introduces you to prerequisite course material you may have missed if you hold a degree outside of construction and related fields.
