Biography
Xia Jin is a professor and the graduate program director with the Civil & Environmental Engineering at Florida International University (FIU). Jin has around 20 years of professional and academic experience in transportation planning. She is the director of the Travel Behavior and System Modeling lab at the FIU.
Her research areas include human and freight mobility behavior analysis, travel demand forecasting, emerging mobility options and vehicle technologies, stated preference surveys, the impacts of e-commerce and telecommuting on travel demand, and freight mobility and safety analysis. Jin has served as the principal investigator for various transportation planning projects sponsored by the Florida Department of Transportation (DOT), the National Cooperative Highway Research Program (NCHRP), and the United States DOT, with a total of $4 million in research funding.
She has more than 70 journal publications and 100 conference proceedings. Jin has served on various committees for the Transportation Research Board of the National Academies and various panels for the NCHRP. Jin holds a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering and a Master of Urban Planning and Civil Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. She is also a professionally certified planner with the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP).
