Biography
Wei-Yu Bao is currently an associate teaching professor in the Department of Mechanical & Materials Engineering of Florida International University. He received his Ph.D. degree from Mechanical & Materials Engineering at Florida International University in 1999. He received both his MS and BS degrees from the Department of Power Machinery Engineering at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Shanghai, China in 1988 and 1982 respectively.
Bao has worked in the shipbuilding industry, diesel engine, manufacturing, automation, modeling and simulation of engineering systems, and mobile software development. He has been teaching at FIU since 2001 and joined the Mechanical & Materials Engineering at FIU in 2004.
His research interests focus on modeling and simulation of engineering systems, artificial intelligent applications, data acquisition and automation, CAD/CAM/CAE applications, and robotics. He received an Excellent in Teaching Award from the College of Engineering and Computing, Florida International University in 2015 and a Service and Recognition Award from Florida International University in 2016 2020 and 2024.
