Tyler Dolmetsch

Biography

Tyler Dolmetsch is a research assistant professor at Florida International University and leads the Cold Spray Rapid Deposition Laboratory (ColRAD) that specializes in high-deposition-rate additive manufacturing technologies for defense and aerospace applications.

His work spans a broad range of advanced manufacturing processes, including wire arc additive manufacturing (WAAM), laser wire direct energy deposition (LW-DED), additive friction stir deposition (AFSD), and cold spray additive manufacturing (CSAM). He has extensive experience processing diverse material systems and is recognized for integrating advanced nanomaterials into these processes to create next-generation materials.

His research also includes the development and in situ characterization of hierarchically structured nanocomposites, leveraging a wide array of 1D and 2D materials such as carbon nanotubes, boron nitride nanotubes, graphene platelets, and boron nitride platelets. His work has resulted in numerous publications and patents, establishing him as a leading innovator in advanced materials and manufacturing technologies.
