Tanaji Paul

Biography

Tanaji Paul is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical and Materials Engineering at Florida International University (FIU), where his research advances the science of additive and advanced manufacturing for metals and composites. His work focuses on cold spray and wire-arc directed energy deposition processes for lightweighting, aerospace, and defense applications. His research has attracted extramural support from federal agencies such as the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) and the Army Research Office (ARO). He is a Senior Member of the National Academy of Inventors and holds 6 United States patents of which several are licensed to industries. His research group engages undergraduate and graduate students and postdoctoral researchers through hands-on training in advanced manufacturing, structural and mechanical behavior of materials. He has published more than 50 scholarly articles, advises 4 doctoral students, is a peer-reviewer for several journals, and has co-organized several symposia in international conferences.
