Biography
Ms. Ruth N. Suárez joined FIU in 2013 as an undergraduate academic advisor for the College of Engineering and Computing at the Knight Foundation School of Computing and Information Sciences. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering at the University of Puerto Rico, Mayaguez campus, in 1988 and a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering at the University of Illinois, Chicago campus, in 1996. Prior to working at FIU Ms. Suarez worked at the Polytechnic University of Puerto Rico as an adjunct faculty teaching Freshman Engineering Design, Calculus 1, and Engineering Mechanics Statics courses. She also worked at AT&T/Lucent Technologies for the Core Software Unit as a Testing Engineer. In addition, she worked at the American Heritage School teaching Engineering courses and at Miami Dade College as the Accelerated Programs advisor. Ms. Suarez believes that higher education is important and is enthusiastic about helping students succeed in their program of study for the betterment of their personal and professional lives.
