Biography
Oscar Saenz has more than twenty years of teaching experience in higher education. Currently, he serves as Associate Chair in the Multidisciplinary Engineering & Computing Education, Systems and Management Department.
Before joining FIU, Saenz worked in the Industrial and Management Systems Engineering Department at West Virginia University, and he was, for eleven years, director of a mathematics and science partnership Project (MSP), professor and department head of the Industrial Engineering Department at a private university in Puerto Rico.
Saenz has advised Continuous Improvement/Lean Capstone projects in multiple industries, published several research papers in the STEM education area, written ABET Self-Study reports, and taught graduate courses in Advanced Engineering Project Management, Advanced Production Planning & Control, Total Quality Management, and Supply Chain Management. Before joining the academia, he worked as project manager for more than ten years.
