Masoud Sadjadi

Biography

Masoud Sadjadi received a B.S. in hardware engineering in 1995, an M.S. in software engineering in 1999 and a Ph.D. in computer science from Michigan State University in 2004. He is an associate professor in the School of Computing and Information Sciences at Florida International University, where he has served on the faculty since 2004.

Sadjadi is the director of the Autonomic Cloud Research Laboratory. He previously served as director of the Center of Partnership for International Research & Education (PIRE), a National Science Foundation–funded program supported by a $2.3 million award. He also led several projects under the Latin American Grid initiative.

His experience spans software development and leadership of large-scale software engineering efforts across industry and academia. He collaborates with researchers in eight countries and leads multiple international research projects. He is serving as the general chair of SEKE 2012 and has served as program chair, co-chair and committee member for numerous international conferences and workshops in his field. He has reviewed for Software: Practice and Experience and has served as a referee and panelist for funding agencies including the National Science Foundation, the Luxembourg National Research Fund and Florida Sea Grant.

His research interests include distributed systems, software engineering, autonomic computing, high-performance computing, grid computing, cloud computing, pervasive systems and mobile computing. He has authored more than 80 refereed publications and is PI or co-PI on 17 grants from NSF, IBM, Kaseya, TeraGrid and FIU totaling approximately $6 million.
