Luis Galarza received B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. in electrical engineering from Florida International University in 2002, 2005, and 2017, respectively. During his studies, he served as a Teacher Assistant, Research Assistant, and Graduate Assistant within the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department. Additionally, Luis has worked for over 23 years for the department in different capacities, including as an adjunct instructor, consultant, visiting faculty, academic advisor (I-III) and associate chairperson for three years. Currently, Luis serves as an associate teaching professor.
Luis's areas of expertise include image and signal processing, assistive technology, time-of-flight devices, computer hardware, and software. Thus, he has taught Logic Design I, Computer Design, Microcomputers I, VHDL, Practical Applied Security, Introduction to Digital Forensics, C++ Programming for Embedded Systems, Control Systems I, and Electrical Design in Buildings I. Additionally, he has mentored many undergraduate students in completing their senior design projects. Luis has also served as a peer reviewer for journals.
