Biography
Larry D. Casey is an Assistant Teaching Professor in the Moss School of Construction, within the College of Engineering and Computing at Florida International University (FIU). He teaches both undergraduate and graduate courses in construction management, including Management and Marketing of Construction Services, Financial Management of Construction Organizations, and Principles of Construction Management. His teaching integrates academic rigor with practical insights gained from over three decades of executive leadership in the construction industry. He also serves as the School’s Industry Advisory Council Director.
Before joining FIU, Mr. Casey held senior leadership positions with several major national and international construction organizations. He served as Senior Vice President for Market Development at Skanska AB in Stockholm and as Chief Strategy Officer and Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Skanska USA Building. His earlier career included executive and preconstruction roles at Centex Rooney Construction, Gilbane Building Company, and other leading firms. His expertise spans strategic business development, marketing, and client engagement across both public and private sectors.
Mr. Casey is a LEED Accredited Professional, a Certified Professional Services Marketer (SMPS), and holds certification in Customer Experience. He has contributed to several industry publications, including the AIAI Best Practices Guide for Public-Private Partnerships, AIAI Guide to Successful P3 Evaluation and Delivery, the SMPS Foundation White Paper “How Do You Like Your Infrastructure?”, and the book Inside the Infrastructure Revolution (Nabors, 2018).
He earned a Master of Business Administration from Nova Southeastern University and a Bachelor of Science in Building Construction from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. His academic and professional interests center on construction finance, leadership, and the integration of industry practice within construction management education.
