Biography
Janki Bhimani is the Director of the Data Management Research Lab and the inaugural Rising Scholar Professor of Computer Science at Florida International University (FIU), the first faculty member to receive this distinguished title.
Before joining FIU, Dr. Bhimani worked at Samsung Semiconductors, where she contributed to advancements in emerging flash-based storage technologies. She holds both a Ph.D. and an M.S. in Computer Engineering from Northeastern University.
Dr. Bhimani’s research spans system design for both classical and quantum computing. On a day-to-day basis, she helps invested stakeholders maximize their resources by identifying critical problems and designing novel, practical solutions using emerging technologies such as modern storage systems, quantum computing, and machine learning. She strives to live at the intersection of science, creativity, and practicality.
A Senior Member of IEEE, Dr. Bhimani has earned numerous accolades, including the NSF CAREER Award, the FIU Top Scholar Award, and Miami-Dade County’s In the Company of Women Award.
