Biography
Gustavo Garcia-Melero has two decades of professional experience applying machine learning, AI and data science across consulting and academia. He has worked as a lead data scientist, senior consultant and head of department, contributing to projects across the U.S., Europe, South America and the Middle East.
His academic experience includes previous appointments at FIU, the Pontifical Catholic University of Valparaíso (PUCV) in Chile and the University of Cantabria in Spain. He also served as director of outreach at PUCV, where he received two awards for expanding international opportunities for faculty and students.
Garcia-Melero has authored more than 20 book chapters, journal articles and conference papers and contributed to 11 research projects. He serves as a reviewer for leading journals, is a member of the American Economic Association and is a Friend of several Transportation Research Board committees.
He holds a Ph.D. in Economics focused on applied econometrics and machine learning, an MS in Business Analytics, an MS in Instruments of Economic Analysis, an MS in International Commerce, Transportation and Communications and a BS in Economics.
