Biography

Bruk Berhane is an associate professor of engineering education in the Department of Multidisciplinary Engineering and Computing Education, Systems and Management (ESM) at Florida International University. He has received over $2.4 million in research grants across ten different projects, including the NSF CAREER Award. Dr. Berhane’s research focuses on studies of engineering student pathways and workforce needs. He also serves as the inaugural undergraduate program director of ESM’s interdisciplinary engineering (IDE) program. His most significant achievements as program director include: 1) Developing a project-based course focused on preparing future engineers for the workforce and 2) Co-leading the successful process for IDE program accreditation by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET).
