Biography
Ananda Mohan Mondal is an Associate Professor of Computer Science in the Knight Foundation School of Computing and Information Sciences (KFSCIS) with courtesy appointments in the Biomolecular Sciences Institute (BSI) and Herbert Wertheim School of Medicine, at Florida International University (FIU), an R1 public research university in Miami, Florida. His research interests are at the intersection of computational biology, health informatics, and artificial intelligence, with a particular focus on algorithmic cancer biology, explainable machine learning, and precision medicine. His research can be divided into two dimensions: Methodology Development based on graph theory, feature selection, and explainable AI; and Applications to Precision Medicine, including disease biomarker discovery and analysis of intratumor heterogeneity that drives cancer evolution, drug resistance, and therapeutic response. Mondal earned his Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering from the University of South Carolina in 2011. Currently, he serves as Academic Editor of PLOS Computational Biology. Mondal is a member of ACM, IEEE, and ISCB.
