Biography
Anamika Prasad is an Associate Professor at Florida International University (FIU) in the Biomedical Engineering and Mechanical and Materials Engineering departments. She earned her Ph.D. from MIT and postdoctoral training from Stanford University. Dr. Prasad's research lies at the intersection of materials science, structural mechanics, and biological systems, with applications spanning biomedical engineering, plant biomechanics, advanced composites, and devices for precision agriculture and healthcare. Her work has been supported by NSF CAREER, NASA, DOD, and state-level grants. Beyond research, Dr. Prasad is passionate about leveraging materials education to advance STEM workforce development through partnerships such as the SD Children's Museum, science educator in SD Native American schools, and multidisciplinary initiatives like the FIU’s Science-Fiction Lab.
