FIU Innovation Complex Welcomes First Class, Marking Historic Milestone

The College of Engineering and Computing marked a historic milestone as the very first class was held inside FIU’s Innovation 1, the inaugural building of the new Innovation Complex. Associate Teaching Professor Gregory Reis led the Software Development Internship Ready course with more than 50 students in a state-of-the-art classroom, setting the stage for a bold new chapter in innovation at FIU.

More than just the start of a class, this moment highlights FIU CEC’s commitment to advancing innovation, fostering collaboration, and preparing students to address real-world challenges. The Innovation Complex, with its modern classrooms and advanced laboratories, is envisioned as a hub for discovery, experimentation, and problem-solving. It will bring together students, faculty, and researchers to explore ideas, drive technological progress, and contribute to South Florida’s role as a center of innovation and economic growth.
