A Milestone for the Doctor of Philosophy in Engineering & Computing Education

The program—the first of its kind in computing education nationwide focuses on understanding how people learn engineering and computing, improving instruction, and broadening participation in STEM fields. By merging the strengths of FIU’s STEM Transformation Institute and the College of Engineering and Computing, the program advances nationally impactful research in STEM education while strengthening the teaching of engineering and computer science. The summer 2025 inaugural graduates have already moved into impactful roles in academia and research, setting the tone for future cohorts:
