Concentrations

The MS in Civil Engineering program consists of five concentrations that allow you to focus your knowledge and learn how to apply it within specific professional or academic contexts.

  • Water Resources Engineering

    The concentration focuses on the analysis of surface, groundwater and atmospheric water issues, with coursework emphasizing hydrology, hydraulics or hydrosystems or a combination thereof.

  • Structural Engineering

    The concentration focuses on the design and analysis of structures, with coursework emphasizing materials science, structural dynamics and expertise in numerical methods.

  • Construction Engineering

    The concentration focuses on engineering management, project planning, construction techniques and computational methods for construction engineering.

  • Geotechnical Engineering

    The concentration focuses on geotechnical dynamics and mechanics, as well as the analysis and design of advanced foundations.

  • Transportation Engineering

    The concentration focuses on the planning, design, operation and maintenance of transportation infrastructure and systems, with coursework emphasizing infrastructure capacity, transportation design and demand, and GIS applications within engineering.
