Iyengar is an FIU Distinguished University Professor at the College of Engineering and Computing’s Knight School of Computing and Information Sciences with outstanding achievements. This new recognition adds to his long list of distinctions: Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), Fellow of the Association of Computing Machinery (ACM), Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), Fellow of the Society for Design and Process Science (SDPS), Fellow of National Academy of Inventors (NAI) and Fellow of the American Institute of Medical and Biological Engineering (AIMBE).

The European Academy of Sciences and Arts is a non-governmental, European association committed to promoting scientific and societal progress. Founded in 1990 as a learned society, our 2,000 members are leading scientists, artists, and practitioners of governance, who are dedicated to innovative research, interdisciplinary and transnational collaboration as well as the exchange and dissemination of knowledge. Academy members are elected for their outstanding achievements in science, arts, and governance.

The now 2,000 members of the Academy include 34 Nobel Prize Laureates. Ordinary members of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts are elected for their outstanding achievements in science, arts, and governance. Ordinary members are natural persons who have successfully completed an academic education and who enjoy exceptional standing in society because of work performed, publications or for comparable reasons.
