Gene Yllanes – from fixing cell phones in his dorm to Capitol Hill

Gene Yllanes in Washington DC showing what’s under the hood of inspection tank

Gene Yllanes is an undergraduate student studying electrical engineering in the College of Engineering and Computing. His interest in electronics propelled him toward a degree in electrical engineering and it was in the College of Engineering and Computing where he received a position at the Applied Research Center (ARC) as a Department of Energy (DOE) fellow. Gene recently went to Washington, D.C. to present research to the head of the DOE.
