This Thanksgiving, the College of Engineering and Computing has something to be thankful for — it was able to share a traditional Thanksgiving dinner with the students of the college’s international Dual Degree Program, International Pipeline Graduate Program, and International Inbound Program.

IMG_0416This marks the second year that the program hosted a thanksgiving dinner for its students.

The American dinner had the traditional turkey entrée, along with stuffing, green beans, mashed potatoes and cranberry sauce.

Nearly 40 students from China, Germany, the Dominican Republic and Colombia attended the Thanksgiving dinner held at the FIU Engineering Center Panther Pit, and for many it was their first time experiencing the holiday.

The Dual Degree Program gives students an opportunity to receive a bachelor’s degree from two universities simultaneously — one from FIU and one from an accredited partner university. The International Pipeline Graduate Program allows students to transfer to FIU to cIMG_0412omplete a master’s degree after having received bachelor’s degree from their university. The International Inbound Program provides short-term international study opportunities for engineering students.

There are currently 113 students taking advantage of the college’s international programs.

Through these programs, not only will students leave with the credits they’ve earned, but they will also leave familiarized with American culture and customs.
