Dean Amir Mirmiran addressed attendees at the “Surmounting the Barriers: Ethnic Diversity in Engineering Education” workshop from his perspective as dean of the second largest producer of Hispanic engineers in the United States. He shared the outcomes of two workshops funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF), “Building Partnerships and Pathways to Address the Foundational Grand Challenge for Engineering Education – Concrete Steps towards Broadening Participation” Part I and II. Co-sponsored by the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE) and the National Academy of Engineering (NAE),  the workshop was held September 26-27, 2013 in Washington, D.C.
