TEDxFIU independently organized TED event

TEDxFIU was developed to make contributions to the world community through the expression of ideas, projects and concepts from the FIU community.  As a center of higher learning, promoting greater international understanding and knowledge is at the core of our mission.  TEDxFIU is a platform for students, faculty and alumni to lend their voices to the TEDx community and contribute world-changing ideas.

What is TEDx?
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is called TEDxFIU, where x = independently organized TED event. At our TEDxFIU event, TEDTalks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized.

TEDxFIU’s inaugural event on November 15, 2012, Beyond the World You Know, will bring speakers from the FIU universe who can take us well beyond our own world/s. We seek to enlighten, entertain and most of all, ignite the sharing of ideas that promote greater understanding among humanity throughout the world.
