The OHL School of Construction in the College of Engineering and Computing at Florida International University, Miami, Florida, invites applications for a tenure-track or tenured faculty position at all ranks, with an anticipated start date of August 2012. Successful candidate must have the ability and qualifications to develop and sustain an active research program with external funding. The department currently needs expertise in, building construction materials, building science, and sustainable construction. Research focus in areas such as innovative construction materials, urban infrastructure, energy efficient or smart buildings, and global construction are desired. For a senior faculty position, a higher level of research accomplishment and scholarly activities are expected.
Applicants must have an earned doctorate in construction engineering, construction management, and/or a closely related field. Experience in the construction industry is highly desirable. Depending on their interest, successful candidates will have the opportunity to interact and collaborate with faculty in Civil and Environmental Engineering, International Hurricane Research Center, Applied Research Center, and the School of Architecture. Available facilities include, Wall of Wind, Titan America Structures and Construction Research Laboratory and the MEP (mechanical, electrical and plumbing) Laboratory. The department also plans to develop a construction process laboratory in the near future.
The Department offers an accredited baccalaureate program with current enrollment of over 400 students and a masters program enrolling over 200 students, including a fully online Masters program. In addition, the department faculty can supervise doctoral students in civil engineering on dissertation research in construction engineering and management.
