Jai Navlakha was honored by the College for his many years of outstanding service. In August, Jai completed a two year term — his third, spanning four decades — as Director of the School of Computing and Information Sciences. Under his leadership, for the first time ever, the School enjoyed two consecutive years with over $4million in sponsored research (and its highest total ever in 2010-2011), and the undergraduate programs flourished, producing a record number of graduates over a two-year period (and its highest total ever in 2010-2011).
The College is indebted to Jai for his leadership at a crucial time for the School; the stability provided over the last two years has enabled us to attract a world-renowned leader to assume the Director position, and build on the foundation that Jai has so ably created.
