Dr. Berrin Tansel is the recipient of the 2009 Edmund Friedman Professional Recognition Award by American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). The Edmund Friedman Professional Recognition Award is presented to a member of the Society nationwide who is judged to have contributed substantially to the status of the engineering profession by establishing a reputation for professional service.

Dr. Berrin Tansel was recognized during the ASCE’s National Meeting in Kansas City on October 29th, 2009 for her outstanding contribution to educational outreach and engineering activities. Her passion for the civil engineering profession and her commitment to mentoring have made a tremendous impact on the vitality, perception, and future of civil engineering.
